ELTHAM PSYCHOLOGY CLINIC

MAKING AN APPOINTMENT

How do I make an appointment?

We recommend that you speak to your GP prior to making an appointment with us. We have collaborative relationships with many local general practitioners. Good liaison between psychologist and GP improves outcomes for those seeking psychological help.

You will need to book a long consultation with your GP to discuss your concerns and allow them time to make the appropriate referral. If you book a short time your GP may ask to return at another time for a longer appointment.

What happens when I call Eltham Psychology Clinic for an appointment?

Reception hours are 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday.  Kelli is our practice manager. She will make a time for you for the next available appointment. There are sometimes waiting periods, but you can ask to be put on a cancellation list. If you are able to take cancellations, you will usually get an appointment promptly.

Do I get a rebate?

Since the introduction of Medicare rebates for psychological services, some referrals qualify for a Medicare rebate. As of July 1 2011, you may qualify for a rebate on up to 10 of your sessions. This may or may not cover your entire treatment. Your GP will decide if the rebates apply in your situation and will either refer you on Medicare, or privately. If you are referred privately, and do not qualify for a Medicare rebate, you may still qualify for a rebate from your private health insurance. You will need to contact your insurer and ask about your cover.
